CableLabs Brings Cutting-Edge Research in Coherent Access, QKD and Fiber Sensing to OFC 2026

CableLabs announced that its Optical Technologies team will present workshops, technical papers and panel discussions at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) 2026, the world’s largest event for optical networking and communications. OFC 2026 will take place March 15–19, 2026, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. CableLabs contributions highlight leadership in coherent PON, fiber to the premise, mobile x-haul, QKD integration and distributed fiber-optic sensing, aligning with OFC’s technical program covering optical devices and subsystems, optical access networks for fixed and mobile services, AI-driven optical infrastructure and photonic systems. Brian Scriber to Speak at 2026 Current Issues Conference

Brian Scriber, Vice President of Security Technologies at CableLabs, will be a panelist at the 2026 Current Issues Conference, taking place from April 19-22, 2025, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Solving Latency in Wi-Fi Networks – L4S and Beyond

Latency performance in Wi-Fi networks has largely been an afterthought, with performance metrics focused instead on throughput. In many networks, the throughput (or capacity) of the wireless channel may be sufficient, but the user experience suffers due to high and widely-varying latency. For some use-cases, managed quality of service features can be used to improve application outcomes for selected applications. But recently, significant work aims to improve Wi-Fi latency broadly, without requiring the network to select which applications benefit and which applications suffer. CableLabs Releases First CPON Specifications, Defining Next-Generation PON Technology

CableLabs is excited to announce the first issued versions of the Coherent PON (CPON) Physical Media Dependent (PMD) Layer and Transmission Convergence (TC) Layer specifications defining the core of CPON technology. CPON is the next generation of PON technology that will enable unconstrained network capability in the Adaptive Era of broadband innovation. CPON devices provide 100 Gbps of usable capacity on a single wavelength, and CPON systems will be capable of supporting 4 or more wavelengths, enabling future capacity upgrades without truck rolls.
