Innovation Starts in Our Labs
Our labs are designed to strengthen the industry
Our labs offer the technologies, experts and tools that are needed to propel ideas through the research, proof of concept and testing stages—and, ultimately, to real-world deployment. Through active participation in these lab environments, collaborators gain deep insights into the technology and operational factors that can help them develop next-generation service offerings, achieve new levels of efficiency and reduce the risks that come with innovation.
Get to know the labs
Members and other collaborators can join forces with CableLabs and its subsidiaries to create a multitude of network architectures, systems and device configurations.

Next Generation Technologies
Research & Development Labs
These labs host advanced technologies and expertise including Advanced Optics & Fiber, Hybrid Fiber Coax, Mobile, Wi-Fi, Convergence, Cloud Native, Security, Wireless PHY/RF Analysis and AI and Machine Learning. These can be interconnected to simulate a wide range of network architectures and scenarios.
Testing Services
CableLabs and it’s subsidiary, Kyrio Inc., provide lab testing of network equipment for cable, PON, and mobile operators and their suppliers. CableLabs executes certification testing programs as well as operator acceptance testing programs.

Testing Services
The Testing Services Lab is used by network operators and vendors who are looking to ensure compliance with industry standards and maximize performance and interoperability with other devices on their network.
System & Device Test Environments
The System & Device Test Environments can be configured to simulate wide-ranging scenarios: from large anechoic chambers to 3D-printed radio frequency (RF) modeling to advanced optics benches. These labs can be used in combination with any of our other labs to more closely simulate a specific test scenario.

Anechoic Chambers
The anechoic and semi-anechoic chambers constitute the epicenter of wireless performance evaluations.

Energy
This environment is used to research new and innovative ways to reduce energy consumption of consumer devices as well as in optical, wireless and cable access networks.

RF Isolation
This capability supports over-the-air testing of Wi-Fi and mobile networks.
Next Generation Technologies Lab
The Next Generation Technologies Lab is where we investigate and test technologies such as quantum encryption. By combining ingenuity and imagination, we invest in experimenting with long-term possibilities.

Quantum Networks
The Quantum Networks Lab was created to defend against cyberattacks by developing and demonstrating cutting-edge quantum key distribution (QKD) systems.
Connecting it all together
The various labs in combination support the full life cycle of research, development, testing and deployment. In collaboration with members, vendors, universities, entrepreneurs and others, the development of new broadband technologies are advanced.
