The Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), a leading Internet of Things (IoT) standards body, announced the winners of their annual Outstanding Contributor Awards. These awards highlight OCF’s member companies as well as individuals who have made exemplary contributions to OCF and its work toward advancing IoT standardization. CableLabs most significant contribution has been in the area of security; additionally, CableLabs was critical in designing and selecting vendors for a state-of-the-art PKI infrastructure. John Park, Executive Director of the Open Connectivity Foundation, said, "All these achievements were made possible by our members who are dedicated and committed to the success of OCF.
Alberto Campos, a Fellow at CableLabs, was named by CableFax as Engineer of the Year. With 30 years’ experience in technology and 15 years at CableLabs, Dr. Campos is regarded as the “Founding Father of Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM)” and the subject matter expert in QoE, DOCSIS technology, RF, wireless optics and network management. He holds 21 patents in the areas of wireless networks and optical communications with 36 patents pending and 58 patent disclosures submitted. Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) Rocky Mountain Chapter announced cable industry leaders and rising stars. CableLab's Rachel Beisel, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, was honored at the annual Walk of Fame signature event on May 9, 2019. The Walk of Fame is an inspiring celebration of the influential leaders in cable, who go above and beyond, push for success and change that brings immeasurable impact to our industry, but also exemplify the WICT Touchstones of Leadership. Environmental Leader, a leading daily trade publication covering energy, environmental and sustainability news, presented its 2019 Project of the Year award to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and NCTA – The Internet & Television Association for leading the voluntary agreement to increase the energy efficiency of consumer internet equipment. CableLabs has teamed up with Charter, Light Field Lab, OTOY and Visby to create the Immersive Digital Experiences Alliance. Principal architect, Arianne Hinds of CableLabs, is helping work to develop an end-to-end ecosystem for immersive media by creating a suite of display-agnostic, royalty-free specifications.
