BTR recently featured CableLabs working group, InGeNeOS, and what they're working on. The focus of this group is how to use network operation tools and techniques from the DOCSIS data. The idea is to use the DOCSIS data information in solutions that can identify, diagnose, and sometimes automatically correct network problems proactively. The InGeNeOS group has proposed many different solutions for how to make use of these data elements and how to solve some of the most service-impactful operations problems that cable operators deal with. Jason Rupe recently authored an article in Broadband Library titled "PNM at CableLabs." He describes how CableLabs has been working on proactive network maintenance (PNM) and has big plans for the future of PNM. In 2019, the PNM team will focus their efforts in developing our PNM Application Environment, which will soon help support open sharing of PNM methods, capabilities and models in a common framework. PNM is continually evolving and provides cable operators with valuable tools to help better maintain and troubleshoot their networks. Read more in his article here.
Curtis Knittle, Vice President of Wired at CableLabs, is a panelist speaker at the 2019 OIDA Executive Forum. Curtis will be on the same panel with other speakers from Verizon, Telecom Italia and Calix discussing action in the access network.
