Closing Ceremony Marks End of Public-Private 5G Challenge Collaboration

What does the future of 5G networks look like, and how will collaboration enable it?

CableLabs recently welcomed government officials, policymakers, industry leaders and other experts to its Louisville, Colorado, headquarters for a ceremony marking the end of the 2023 5G Challenge and the broader two-year challenge program. CableLabs was selected as the host lab for both years of the competition.

The 5G Challenge was launched in 2022 by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Institute for Telecommunications Sciences (NTIA-ITS) in partnership with the Department of Defense (DoD). It was created to accelerate the widespread adoption of 5G open interfaces, interoperable subsystems, secure networks and multivendor solutions by cultivating a vibrant vendor community.
