// NewsCableLabs’ Mark Bridges Featured on Cablefax Podcast
CableLabs’ Mark Bridges was featured this week on the Cablefax podcast, CFX Download, where he discussed how the industry is advancing network reliability, interoperability and the next era of broadband innovation.
During the conversation, Bridges addressed one of the industry’s most pressing priorities: ensuring reliable, high-performing broadband experiences as consumer expectations continue to rise. He highlighted CableLabs’ work on Quality by Design (QbD), a new industry framework that enables broadband networks and applications to work together in real time to elevate and improve user experience.
Bridges also previewed the upcoming CableLabs Tech Summit in April, where the central theme will be the industry’s Technology Vision — a roadmap designed to usher in the next era of broadband innovation. As the industry transitions from the Speed Era into the Experience and Adaptive Eras, collaboration and ecosystem interoperability will be essential.
Bridges also discussed the importance of interoperability events and ecosystem maturity across the industry. In 2025, DOCSIS 4.0 interoperability milestones demonstrated significant progress, with multi-vendor configurations achieving record-setting 16 Gbps downstream speeds and validating readiness for commercial deployment. Interoperability has also played a critical role across access, optical, wireless and security advancements.
CableLabs continues to advance XGS-PON and Coherent PON technologies, including development of the industry’s first single-wavelength 100 Gbps PON specifications, further underscoring the industry’s readiness for next-generation broadband services.
These efforts reflect CableLabs’ ongoing leadership in shaping the future of broadband through innovation, collaboration and a shared technology vision for the global cable ecosystem. Watch the full interview.
