CableLabs is pleased to share that Dr. Daniel Smullen, Principal Privacy Research Engineer, will be speaking at the upcoming 2025 IAPP Privacy. Security. Risk. (PSR) conference on October 31, 2025, at 2:15-3:15 pm in San Diego, CA, at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina.
Daniel will be on the AI’s Best Friend: The Role of PETs, Enabling Data Use & Operationalizing Privacy panel. This panel will explore how PETs, such as federated learning, differential privacy, and homomorphic encryption, can both strengthen privacy protection and drive innovation in AI. The Centre for Information Policy Leadership will also share insights from its paper “PETs and PPTs in AI: Enabling Data Use and Operationalizing Privacy by Design and Default,” outlining how these technologies address privacy risks and create new opportunities in data sourcing, model training, security, and collaboration.
