Go2BroadbandSM — Project Primer
Overview
Go2Broadband is the cable industry's “service locator” solution for digital cable, phone, high-definition and high-speed Internet services.

G2B, an open-platform that supports both telephone and Web-based technologies, enables:
  • Cable operators to:
    • Increase sales through efficient access to alternate sales channels. These sales channels are sometimes referred to as affiliates of the G2B program and represent a wide variety of companies, including consumer electronics retailers, Internet service providers (ISPs), e-tailers and programmers.
    • Leverage cable service offerings across several markets by creating a nationwide single point-of-contact for consumers.
  • Consumers to:
    • Acquire real-time responses regarding the availability of video, high-speed data and telephony services offered by cable operators for their current and/or new address.
    • Place orders for various cable service(s) quickly and easily from a wide variety of locations including their home, in retail stores, and over the Web.
  • Alternate Sales Channels (Affiliates) to:
    • Increase sales of consumer electronics equipment (i.e., cable modems, high-definition TVs, etc.) by providing a quick and simple way to check cable service availability and/or plan information by address.
    • Electronically interface efficiently with the top cable operators representing 90% of all cable households in the United States.
Now that more than 450 companies (including over 125 regional and local retailers and 250 dealers) are utilizing the G2B service locator, consumers have increased awareness, prompt access to plan information, and added convenience when choosing their video, data, and telephony services provider.

The G2B Web Platform
  • The G2B process begins when a customer at an affiliate site (e.g., retail kiosk, Web site) submits a query to G2B, requesting the availability of cable services for a specific address.
  • G2B then contacts the participating cable operator who responds with information on its service offerings to the customer or affiliate.
  • After viewing the cable service offerings, a second set of messages is used to enable the order to be placed directly with the cable operator for activation.
  • The customer may also be able to schedule an appointment with the cable operator via G2B.
One of the key advantages to G2B is that the same message set and structure will work with all cable operators participating with G2B.

The G2B Phone Platform
  • The Cable Movers Hotline is an easy-to-use resource that allows a Customer Service Representative in one community to route a caller to the cable system in the caller's destination market.
  • With a single phone call, a customer can disconnect service at his or her current home and sign up for installation at a new residence in another market.
  • The Cable Movers Hotline plays a critical role in cable industry retention as it preserves relationships with hundreds of thousands of customers who are at risk of electing an alternative provider when they change residence.

G2B Participants
  • 18 cable operators, who serve over 90% of all U.S. cable households, participate in G2B. This includes the top 10 operators.
  • Numerous affiliates, including broadband resellers, modem manufacturers, consumer electronics retailers are working with the G2B system to support sales of cable modems, cable modem services, as well as advanced digital video and phone services.
  • Content providers are using G2B to encourage their viewers to obtain high-speed connections to enhance their interactive Web experience.
As the selection of cable video, phone and broadband services continues to expand to provide consumers with more choice and convenience, the capabilities of G2B will evolve to support that expansion.
