CableLabs® Issues DPoE™ Specifications

Louisville, Colorado, March 2, 2011—CableLabs® and its members have issued DOCSIS® Provisioning of EPON (DPoE™ 1.0) specifications outlining a common approach for cable operators to use existing DOCSIS back office provisioning processes to deliver business services over EPON access networks.

The family of specifications, led by Bright House Networks, Comcast and Time Warner Cable, will enable higher velocity and highly scaled access into the business services marketplace because many suppliers already had achieved interoperability on the DOCSIS back office infrastructure.

Through DPoE technology, cable operators anticipate delivering IP and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-based business and commercial services applications. A successful interoperability event based on these specifications was held last month and attracted 10 suppliers.
