Tom Elliot Joins CableLabs®
Louisville, Colorado, July 3, 1997—Cable industry veteran Thomas G. Elliot has joined Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs®). Elliot was a visiting executive at CableLabs when the research organization began staffing up in 1989 and left in 1991 to remain at TCI as senior vice president of engineering and technology.
"Tom has a great knowledge base and broad cable experience that will prove invaluable to CableLabs as we move into a new era," said CableLabs President and CEO Dr. Richard R. Green. "Our workload has increased extensively of late and Tom will be a great help in assisting CableLabs to meet our goals," Green said.

Elliot will work on special projects dealing with digital television, high definition television, and the consumer electronics industry. He has worked in the cable television industry for more than 30 years.
Elliot's career has been marked by a string of accomplishments such as engineering and building the first commercial, transportable video uplink in the world, and engineering and installing the first commercial fiber link for the U.S. Air Force at NORAD.
CableLabs is a research and development consortium of cable television system operators representing more than 85% of the cable subscribers in the United States, 75% of the subscribers in Canada, and 12% of cable subscribers in Mexico. CableLabs plans and funds research and development projects that will help cable companies take advantage of future opportunities and meet future challenges in the television industry. It also transfers relevant technologies to member companies and to the industry.
