Chris Lammers Joins CableLabs as COO

Louisville, Colorado, May 14, 1997—Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs) has named Christopher J. Lammers, formerly president and CEO of Western Communications, as chief operating officer.

"I believe that our lengthy search process has brought us the best candidate—a very able, acknowledged leader in the cable television industry," said Dr. Richard R. Green, president and CEO of CableLabs. "I am very excited about being able to work in partnership with Chris to chart CableLabs' future," Green said.

Said Lammers: "In the short period of time I have been at CableLabs, I have found CableLabs, the individuals within it, and the position to exceed my expectations. Being inside CableLabs, it is easy to see how this organization has achieved what it has over the last eight years. This will be a most challenging and exciting opportunity."

While at Western Communications, a cable MSO serving 330,000 subscribers that now is part of Tele-Communications, Inc., Lammers held a series of executive positions with increasing responsibility and became CEO for three years ending in 1996 when the cable operations were sold.

He holds a law degree from the University of Chicago School of Law and a bachelor's degree with distinction in psychology from Stanford University.

Lammers succeeds Baryn S. Futa, who is now president and CEO of MPEG LA, LLC, a Denver-based licensing administrator for intellectual property involved with the MPEG digital video standard.
