Bukovinsky to Head CableLabs’® PacketCable™ & Cable Modem Initiatives

David Bukovinsky has been promoted to the new position of vice president, broadband services, for CableLabs®. In this position, he will be responsible for blending the very successful CableLabs® Certified™ cable modem development project with PacketCable™.

Bukovinsky has been leading the PacketCable initiative for the past year; PacketCable is a fast-track effort aimed at developing interoperable interface specifications for delivering advanced, real-time multimedia services over two-way cable plants. In this role, he has succeeded in uniting the vendor community around a series of common interface specifications, due to be released in October of this year.

Other CableLabs staff members promoted at the same time are Ed Miller, who succeeds Bukovinsky as director of PacketCable and will head the PacketCable initiative; Dr. Terry Shaw, who becomes a senior advisor on network systems in the Strategic Assessment group; and Maria Stachelek, named a project director, software systems and architecture, for PacketCable.
