| Bukovinsky to Head CableLabs’® PacketCable™ & Cable Modem Initiatives | |
| David Bukovinsky has been promoted to the
new position of vice president, broadband services, for CableLabs®.
In this position, he will be responsible for blending the very successful CableLabs®
Certified™ cable modem development project with PacketCable™. Bukovinsky has been leading the PacketCable initiative for the past year; PacketCable is a fast-track effort aimed at developing interoperable interface specifications for delivering advanced, real-time multimedia services over two-way cable plants. In this role, he has succeeded in uniting the vendor community around a series of common interface specifications, due to be released in October of this year. |

| Other CableLabs staff members promoted at the same time are Ed Miller, who succeeds Bukovinsky as director of PacketCable and will head the PacketCable initiative; Dr. Terry Shaw, who becomes a senior advisor on network systems in the Strategic Assessment group; and Maria Stachelek, named a project director, software systems and architecture, for PacketCable. | |
