CableLabs® has hired Jenifer Cistola as Vice President of Go2Broadband(SM) (G2B) and Ed Miller as Chief Network Architect, both in the Strategic Assessment Department.

“These two industry veterans are great additions for us in key areas,” said Dr. David Reed, CableLabs Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning. “G2B is about to take off with the addition of digital video service offerings and with helping our industry with its churn issue. Our network planning also is poised for more attention and focus as we develop next-generation technologies over cable networks,” he added.

Cistola comes to CableLabs from Scientific-Atlanta where she was Vice President of Product Marketing. In her role at CableLabs, she is responsible for the CableLabs G2B service that creates an Internet-based electronic commerce tool to assist affiliated computer makers, retail partners, and content providers in selling cable services. G2B is an industry-wide tool that not only identifies cable services available at a particular address, but also links affiliates directly with the cable operator(s) so that services may actually be ordered.

“The G2B project will continue to work closely with CTAM (Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing) and the industries’ leading marketing representatives as we add new offerings,” Cistola said. A CTAM “TAMI” award winner for her work bridging between marketing and engineering, Cistola holds a bachelor’s of Industrial Engineering (BIE) degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Miller returns to CableLabs in a role that will focus on defining the next-generation network architecture for cable systems as well as working with CableLabs member companies to advance new packet-based solutions over the PacketCable Multimedia platform. He previously worked for Terayon Communications as Vice President, Voice Solutions. Miller held various positions during his prior three-year stint at CableLabs, leaving as Director of PacketCable™ in 2001.

He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree Magna Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering (EE) from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master’s Degree in EE from Carnegie Mellon University.
