The event, to be held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, December 15, 1999, will present The Brian Setzer Orchestra as the headliner;Los Lobos, a popular Latin-based band, will be the opening act. Tickets, which will be distributed by the co-sponsors, will be necessary to enter the party. The event will be held in the California Ballroom; doors will open at 9:00 p.m.

The theme for the party is "Reaching the Speed of the 21st Century – A Celebration" and is a tribute to all of the suppliers who have made cable modems possible and helped to make that high-speed capability available to consumers everywhere. It also builds the foundation for the migration of the cable industry to a telecommunications industry. Chuck Klein Productions is producing the party.

"Cable modem makers and headend manufacturers are working together in this activity to celebrate a new era and business opportunity. This celebration is a way to thank the cable industry for its commitment to an interoperable, retail-available, high-speed Internet access business that will enable the broadband millennium," said Rouzbeh Yassini, executive consultant to CableLabs and its CableLabs® Certified™ cable modem initiative.
