| CableLabs® Y2K Working Group Opens Web Site to Public |
| In an effort to maximize distribution of information on the Y2K issue,
CableLabs Working Group on Year 2000 has opened its World Wide Web site to the
public at large, including all cable system operators in the cable television industry,
effective the week of May 3, 1999. The web site is accessible through
http://y2k.cablelabs.com. In addition to other Y2- related information, the web site contains responses from suppliers to a CableLabs Request for Information (RFI) on Y2K issues, documents from suppliers addressing Y2K issues with respect to cable equipment, meeting agendas, and a meeting calendar. An upcoming feature to the web site will be a moderated Majordomo list on which cable operators may post and receive correspondence to facilitate discussions of Y2K-related issues. CableLabs created the Y2K group in November 1997 for the purpose of sharing information regarding Y2K issue resolution as it pertains to the cable television industry. Its goal is to benefit from the participation and knowledge exchange of its members in identifying, analyzing, and developing solutions for Y2K issues. The principal objective of the information exchange is to focus on uninterrupted service delivery and customer care. Patrick Vertovec of Comcast chairs the Working Committee for Year 2000. |
