|
CableLabs® and EuroCableLabs have signed an agreement to further align the development of cable technology in the US and Europe. The agreement provides EuroCableLabs access to CableLabs' DOCSIS® and PacketCable™ specifications and test plans, thereby assuring greater consistency across cable technologies developed for the North American and European markets. The agreement assures EuroCableLabs will have access to draft specifications for DOCSIS® and PacketCable™, including proposed engineering changes to these specifications, to allow for European adaptations to be included in the specifications while they are being developed. In addition, EuroCableLabs will have access to CableLabs' acceptance and compliance test plans which are used as part of the certification and qualification testing process. “This announcement builds upon our common interest in developing specifications in Europe and North America with the objective of attaining with others open, standards-based technologies and hence assuring multiple manufacturers competing to develop fully-featured, cost-competitive products to deliver our cable services,” said CableLabs Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Christopher J. Lammers. Niels-Kristian Hersoug, Managing Director of EuroCableLabs: “World specifications in cable technology will help the cable industry to develop compelling new services faster and cheaper. EuroCableLabs and CableLabs new agreement is an important step toward building a truly international approach to achieving operational interoperability and commonality of cable technology.” About EuroCableLabs |
