Specification Released

Print This Page

In preparation for a fall launch of HDTV services around the country, CableLabs' Go2Broadband(SM) (G2B) project has released specification 3.0. Known as the service locator, G2B relays service queries, service offers, and service requests between multiple system operators (MSOs) and consumers. Specification 3.0 provides new features such as a questionnaire that helps tailor offerings to users' needs, as well as a comprehensive video offering designed in partnership with the Cable & Television Association for Marketing (CTAM) retail marketing committee.

The implementation of G2B specifications by CableLabs' member cable operators and affiliates has resulted in a sharp increase in recent requests for broadband services. Various CableLabs members have requested the ability to participate in G2B without building their own custom MSO companion site. In response, Cable Labs has built a MSO companion site that can be used by members to communicate with G2B. Thus, allowing even the smallest MSOs to join G2B and market their services such as high-speed data (HSD) through retail channels such as Best Buy and web based outlets such as AOL and Dell.
